Aurora board clears consent agenda, approves hires and budget updates; motions pass with occasional recorded opposition

Following the public hearing, the Town Board approved routine business items and a slate of personnel and budget actions at the June 22 meeting.

The consent agenda — including minutes from the June 8 meeting, a June 16 work session and the abstract of claims for June 22 — was moved by a board member identified as Joe and seconded by Ben; the motion was carried though at roll call at least one member verbally said, "I opposed."

The board approved payments to consultant Azar Design for infrastructure work (multiple invoices for culvert and bridge services), and passed several budget amendments reallocating water charges and recording CHIPS and comprehensive plan grant payments. The board accepted a $200 donation from the Lions Club for office furnishings and authorized the supervisor to sign a county commitment letter supporting a community composting 'plate-to-field' initiative. The board also voted to request the state public service commission investigate noise from two county infrastructure locations and referred an expired building-permit violation to the town attorney for justice-court action.

On personnel items the board approved hiring Adam Meyers as seasonal labor for highway and parks ($18/hour), six seasonal lifeguards at $17.25/hour pending orientation, and Matthew Conurs as a part-time substitute van driver ($18.51/hour), among other routine appointments. Each motion was moved and seconded in public roll call and recorded as "motion carried," with a vocalized opposition recorded on several items but without detailed roll-call tallies in the hearing record.

The board also voted to add an executive session later in the evening to discuss a personnel matter with no action intended. After staff reports and board communications the meeting moved toward executive session.
