Suffield design board approves 400-square-foot storage addition for Suffield Hardware

The Town Center Design Review Board on Nov. 5, 2025, approved a 400-square-foot enclosed storage addition to Suffield Hardware at 63 Mountain Road, the board’s minutes show.
Design Review Board member Robin Zatony moved to approve the application as submitted; Michael Grandfield seconded the motion and the vote passed unanimously. Present at the special meeting were board members Ray Wilcox, Frank Grillo, Earl Waterman, Zatony and Grandfield, Planning Director Bill Hawkins, applicant George Fields and recording secretary Ellie Binns.
The board reviewed drawings showing the new structure would replace an existing storage building and be larger at 400 square feet. The minutes say no additional exterior lighting is proposed and that proposed colors will match the existing brick building with white trim and doors.
The motion approved the application "as submitted with the overhangs shown which will be done at a future time," according to the minutes. The board did not attach additional conditions in the recorded action.
