David Furus, representing the applicant and owner Mr. Dignelli, presented a consolidated-site plan for three lots on Route 312 and showed board members a proposed building whose vehicle bays would face the adjacent railroad rather than the highway. Engineer Ralph Alenetti said the site’s topography and retaining walls (about 8–10 feet in places) will limit visibility from Route 312.
Board members confirmed the application is for a special-use permit to allow automotive and heavy‑truck repair in the zoning district, not for vehicle sales. Furus said the project would remove one existing building, combine three parcels into one lot, expand an existing parking area, and add landscaping intended to screen most of the new structure from the roadway. He also clarified there is no fueling station planned for the site.
The applicant provided proposed hours: office and owner/operator portions would operate roughly 4 a.m. to 8 p.m.; truck repair operations would run Monday–Saturday, about 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Furus explained the owner’s transportation company, Iron Horse Transit, would occupy roughly half the new building, with the remaining space available for similar heavy‑duty truck services.
Supervisor Castellano moved to close the public hearing and open a five‑day public comment period to the town clerk; the motion was seconded and approved. No final permit decision was made; the board will review written comments received during the five‑day window and consider the application at a future meeting.
The board asked town planning and engineering staff to confirm outstanding referral and variance requirements; the applicant acknowledged a pending zoning‑board variance application for coverage and front‑yard setback and said they will appear before that board next month.
