Residents press Robbins leaders on tree trimming, camera locations and senior services

ROBBINS, Ill. — Residents at the Oct. 26 Village of Robbins meeting used the public-comment period to press elected officials for action on tree trimming, camera siting and services for seniors.

Phyllis Daley told the board that village-owned trees and limbs on the lot adjacent to her property — listed at 13324 and 13332 S. Kildare — have overgrown and damaged her fence. She said she submitted a request for action to Ms. Fields in July and requested follow-up. The minutes record no immediate remedy or commitment from staff during the meeting.

Several residents, including Ms. Echols, asked when tree-cutting would begin; others thanked staff and volunteers for recent community support. Ms. Echols said, "I think you all are doing a good job," while also asking about scheduling for tree work and enforcement.

Ms. Porter asked specifically where eight new cameras are located. Trustee Tiffany S. Robinson described placement including 135th with solar panels and perimeter cameras near Kedzie and Pulaski and 139th, and said monitoring checkpoints are planned after installation.

Speakers also asked whether seniors would receive snow-removal help this winter and suggested fundraising ideas for the village. Community members raised a procedural question about who serves as the village press contact; Dr. Darden said he has an issue with Sean Howard serving as press person for the village. That concern and other resident requests were not resolved on the record and will require follow-up by staff.

The board moved into closed session following public comment and no further public action was taken that night.
