Robbins board approves refuse contract with Flood Brothers Disposal Co.

The Village of Robbins mayor and board of trustees voted Dec. 20, 2021, to approve a contract with Flood Brothers Disposal Co. for refuse and waste collection, according to the board’s meeting minutes.

Trustee Gregory N. Jackson moved to approve the contract; Trustees David R. Dyson and Tiffany S. Robinson seconded. A roll call recorded Ayes from Dyson, Ernest Maxey Jr., George Brewton, Robinson, Jackson and Michael Collier Sr.; the motion carried.

The board noted the contract will take effect Jan. 1. Trustee Michael Collier asked when the contract would become effective, and the mayor responded “Jan. 1st,” and said there will be a transition period between the outgoing provider and Flood Brothers.

Trustee Ernest Maxey asked whether residents would be allowed to keep their totes or would be required to return them; the minutes record that Mayor Darren E. Bryant said he would meet Flood Brothers later that day at 4 p.m. to obtain answers on tote ownership and other service details.

During the public comment portion, resident Terri Hill asked whether the new company offers recycling services and whether recycling would incur an extra charge. The minutes do not record a response to that question; the mayor’s stated follow-up meeting with Flood Brothers was presented as the mechanism for resolving outstanding service questions.

The minutes show Trustee Tiffany S. Robinson moved to adjourn; the motion was seconded by Trustees Michael Collier Sr. and David R. Dyson. The meeting record indicates it was adjourned and signed by Village Clerk Sharon Dyson (the signature line in the minutes prints the name as “Sharen Dyson”).
