The council approved Resolution 1879, a fee-schedule amendment that includes multiple Parks Department and cemetery fee changes.
Parks & Recreation Director Alina Hibbs (S10) explained two fee proposals: a new two-day-a-week option for the EELS swim-team program intended to lower cost for participants, and a set of cemetery price updates adjusting infant, cremation and mausoleum alcove niche fees to reflect operations, maintenance and limited inventory. Hibbs said the cemetery board could not achieve a quorum and the item was presented directly to council to avoid penalizing a service provider (Weeks Funeral Home).
Chris Bassetti (S14) told the council that the fee resolution also implements a 3.1% automatic adjustment to the school impact fee based on the Seattle–Tacoma–Bellevue CPI; staff had already implemented the change on April 1 and sought ratifying paperwork.
Council moved, seconded and approved Resolution 1879 by voice vote. Council also recorded receipt of email correspondence from Kyle Fletcher, director of business operations at the school district, raising concerns about adoption of the school impact fee; staff said they will evaluate the district’s capital facilities plan once approved by the school board.
