Council OKs application for ITEP funding to build shared-use path linking elementary and primary schools

Acting City Manager and Director Joe Gillespie told the council staff has posted a public survey to support an enhancement grant for a multi-use trail, and that public participation will help the grant scoring. He also said the project will involve obtaining easements across VFW property and that staff expects to secure required permissions.
The resolution authorizes the city to apply for Cycle 16 ITEP funds for both design and construction. No dollar amount was specified in the packet or during the meeting. Councilmembers did not debate specific engineering details at the meeting; staff indicated those will be developed if the grant is awarded and returned to the council for any necessary approvals.
