Keep the Midlands Beautiful asks Cayce to match West Columbia with $6,000 contribution

CAYCE, S.C. — Traude Sander, executive director of Keep the Midlands Beautiful, told the Cayce City Council on May 5 that her group is expanding litter-reduction, recycling and community-beautification efforts and asked the city to become a financial supporter.
"I encourage you to match your sister city, West Columbia, by donating $6,000 to our efforts," Sander said, describing the programs the nonprofit runs to reduce litter and increase recycling across the Midlands.
Sander also recognized Council Member Byron Thomas as Keep the Midlands Beautiful's 2025 Elected Official of the Year.
City Council took no immediate separate vote on the funding request during the meeting; the item was presented for council consideration. The presentation was part of a longer meeting that included routine approvals, emergency-contract ratification for a sewer main repair, and board appointments.
Keep the Midlands Beautiful operates regionally to coordinate municipal and volunteer efforts on litter, beautification and recycling efforts. The council did not commit funds during the May 5 session; council members acknowledged the presentation as part of routine outreach from local nonprofits.
