Mona Council narrows plans for summer celebration, asks public to nominate grand marshal

"Do we usually charge for [the parade]?" a council member asked; staff clarified the parade has not been charged in prior years and recommended keeping nomination and selection procedures simple.
Members also discussed event programming: options included a truck and car show, a 5K and a breakfast. Because of heat concerns, organizers agreed to avoid afternoon athletic events and to consider moving a dunk tank if volunteers are unavailable. Staff noted one pledged donation of $1,000 toward the truck show.
On vendor rules, staff laid out a draft food-vendor packet tied to existing city code. Council members debated vendor fees, noting other towns charge $100 for food trucks while Mona's preliminary public-use permit fee was set at $50 (with an additional $50 if electricity is provided). "Most food trucks these days have their own generator," S6 observed during the fee discussion.
The council asked staff to: post registration and vendor rules, collect grand-marshal nominations, assign five-business outreach lists to each council member, and return with final parade routing after confirming contractor schedules for nearby Main Street work. The session closed with staff confirming public-notice steps required before adopting fee changes.
