Council members debated the merits of spec‑site funding and whether the county should front site infrastructure to attract prospective employers. Supporters noted concrete examples of past success (a development previously leading to a $35 million private investment and projected 160 hires at Lot AA). Opponents questioned using taxpayer funds for speculative site readiness or spec buildings, asked for clearer cost breakdowns and argued the county should not subsidize infrastructure that developers might otherwise pay.
Roll calls on both resolutions resulted in committee votes that failed to recommend approval; staff said both items will nonetheless be placed on the County Council November agenda for further debate (committee voting records will accompany the items).
