Wellesley installs AEDs, makes Narcan available at town fields; Fire Department to maintain units

The Wellesley Health Department reported on May 7 that two automated external defibrillators (AEDs) are now available at Sprague and Hunnewell fields and that Narcan will also be available at those locations. Health Director Lenny Izzo said the Wellesley Fire Department will be responsible for AED maintenance and that the department is purchasing a new unit for the Warren Building.
Board members discussed training and outreach: Vice Chair Linda Oliver Grape suggested notifying soccer clubs and training coaches on AED use; Mr. Izzo said Wellesley United Soccer was involved from the start and will be aware of the rollout. Mr. Izzo said an education piece for field users will take place in the next month.
