SEMCAC requests downtown no-parking to accommodate Thursday deliveries; Council asks staff for cost estimate

Bob and Marla Burns, speaking on behalf of SEMCAC, asked the Caledonia City Council on Aug. 12 to change downtown parking on Marshall Street so the nonprofit can receive food deliveries without obstruction.
The Burnses requested either no parking on the east side of Marshall Street adjacent to SEMCAC or restricted parking on Thursday mornings. Council members agreed to direct city staff to estimate the cost of installing a no-parking sign and to place the proposed change on the Aug. 26 agenda for further consideration.
Council did not vote on a permanent parking change at the Aug. 12 meeting; the council’s action was limited to requesting a staff cost estimate and scheduling follow-up discussion.
