The Caledonia City Council on Aug. 12 approved Pay Application #30 for work on the city wastewater treatment plant, authorizing payment of $280,579.96 while withholding $21,000 in liquidated damages.
City Clerk/Administrator Jake Dickson introduced the pay application and told the Council the submission was late because of an error and that the requested payment schedule is not aligned with the project’s completion timeline. Dickson said he will continue coordinating with the engineer of record and the city’s legal counsel to resolve outstanding issues.
Member Dave Fitzpatrick moved to approve Pay Application #30 while withholding $21,000; Member Amanda Ninneman seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.
The council did not provide a separate timetable for releasing withheld funds; Dickson said staff will follow up with the engineer and legal counsel. The payment relates to ongoing work at Caledonia’s wastewater treatment plant; the council’s action authorizes disbursement but leaves liquidated-damage holds in place pending further review.
