City seeks legal review after Buhl Water Company agreement expires

Administrator Tony Jeffries told the council on Aug. 8 that the amended agreement between the City of Buhl and Buhl Water Company, originally amended in 2004 for a 20-year term, expired April 1, 2024.
Jeffries said provisions that had given Buhl Water Company exclusive rights to purchase water for resale and to use the name “Buhl Water” appear no longer in force; there was no communication from Buhl Water Company before the agreement's expiration. The administrator will consult the city attorney and request a formal legal opinion on the status of the expired agreement and any next steps the city should consider.
No legal actions or contract changes were taken at the meeting.
