Buhl reviews options as municipal law-enforcement contract nears renewal

At the Aug. 8 working session Administrator Tony Jeffries told the council that municipal law enforcement services for Buhl are provided by the City of Chisholm under a three-year contract that expires at the end of 2024.
Jeffries said options include renegotiating with Chisholm, contracting with the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office, or exploring other providers. He noted Chisholm’s new public safety facility is closer to Buhl than the prior location and that, because coverage and response times matter most, Chisholm appears best positioned to provide regular service. Councilors also discussed enforcement topics the city expects a renewed contract to address, including parking, vehicle licensing and blight.
No formal decision or direction to execute a new contract was recorded at the meeting.
