Buhl to solicit proposals as Waste Management contract nears expiration

The Buhl City Council heard Aug. 8 that the municipal refuse contract with Waste Management, Inc. (WMI) expires at the end of 2024 and that city staff will solicit proposals from WMI, the City of Chisholm and G‑Men Environmental Services.
Administrator Tony Jeffries said WMI has expressed interest in continuing service, but the city will solicit competitive proposals and invite representatives from Chisholm and WMI to submit bids and discuss billing specifics and container management. Councilors discussed service-frequency gaps in Chisholm’s current schedule and how to handle seasonal residents who split the year between Buhl and elsewhere.
No contract award or formal action to select a provider was taken at the meeting.
