At the July 9 meeting’s Citizens Forum, resident Shari Swanson of 10172 Whiteside Road addressed several community concerns for the council to consider.
Swanson said the last addendum to the contract between the City and the Buhl Water Company has expired and should be renegotiated; she suggested the prior 20-year term and an exclusion on selling Buhl water may not be in the city’s best interest. She also asked whether the derelict Short Stop facility should be torn down after more than a year without redevelopment and noted the existing lease between Ziegler and the city property (crossing BEDA property) expires at year-end and that negotiations will resume. Swanson additionally raised concerns about ensuring the Health Care Facility voting processes are performed correctly.
These points were delivered as public comment; the minutes do not record an immediate staff action or response committing to a specific schedule for contract renegotiation or demolition. Councilors and staff thanked Swanson for speaking and the council took no immediate formal action during the Citizens Forum.
