Moreland middle‑school entrepreneurs present Project Echo to trustees

A group of Moreland Middle School students presented Project Echo, an entrepreneurship club that allows students to take defined company roles (CEO, CFO, CMO, COO) and prototype business ideas. Teams described four projects: Study Buddies (peer tutoring and paid older‑student tutoring), Foodie (curated recipe app combining nutrition and culinary input), Wake (a desk‑organization alarm clock), and Job Center (an app to help teens find local jobs).
Students explained how they conceived their ideas, challenges they faced (product scope, costs, safety) and their experience competing in a May 31 competition in Los Angeles. Board members praised the students’ leadership and commitment and thanked parent volunteers and staff who supported the project (notably Terresa Molinelli, Nurmala and Vicram). The board invited the students to pose for photos and wished them a good summer.
The presentation lasted through the early portion of the meeting and included follow‑up questions from trustees about scaling and membership; students said Project Echo may run again next year but participation could change as some students advance to high school.
