Rothsay City Council approves contracts, donations and sheriff service contract; several items continued to April

The Rothsay City Council unanimously carried a package of routine approvals at its March 2 meeting, including contracts, donations and a sheriff service contract for 2026.
Council approved the Wilkin County Sheriff service contract for $21,204.23. The motion was made by Daryl Schleeter and seconded by Matthew Balken and the minutes record the measure as carried. The council also approved a Pro‑Sweep contract for $1,500 (motion by Schleeter, seconded by Nathan Ziegler) and authorized $2,500 to purchase thirty street banners in three designs (motion by Heather Weber, seconded by Daryl Schleeter); both motions carried.
The consent agenda — which included the February 2 meeting minutes, fire department township meeting minutes, February accounts receivable and payable, EDA minutes, Rothsay Fire Department reports, committee reports and employee reports — was approved on a motion by Nathan Ziegler, seconded by Heather Weber. The council approved a Post Prom REC rental donation (motion by Weber, seconded by Ziegler) and an elected official guide (motion by Daryl Schleeter, seconded by Ziegler); both motions carried.
Council members also approved the city’s Emergency Management Plan (motion by Nathan Ziegler, seconded by Matthew Balken) and accepted the Otter Tail County hazardous waste contract (motion by Daryl Schleeter, seconded by Heather Weber); both motions carried.
In financial housekeeping, council approved transferring the trust account into a certificate of deposit to be used for urgent snowplow repair, water and wastewater line repairs, equipment rental, city shop repairs and emergency management needs. That motion was made by Daryl Schleeter and seconded by Nathan Ziegler and was recorded as carried.
