Broken Bow council approves consent agenda, authorizes CDBG pre-application and OKs KENO funds for flagpole

Broken Bow — At the May 10, 2022 meeting, the Broken Bow City Council approved routine consent items and a series of resolutions covering grant authorization and local recreation funding.
The council approved the consent agenda, which included the April 26 meeting minutes, volunteer fire and ambulance rosters and bills to date. The bills list in the minutes totals $172,961.57.
City Administrator Dan Knoell reported the city received $74,482.32 from EMC as a partial reimbursement of workers’ compensation premiums, which he attributed to improved workplace safety and fewer claims.
On resolutions, the council unanimously approved Resolution 2022-5, granting the Central Nebraska Economic Development District permission to complete a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) pre-application and authorizing the mayor to sign the pre-application. The resolution is intended to pursue funding for future street projects, according to the minutes.
The council also approved Resolution 2022-6 to use KENO funds to pay $17,150 for a flagpole at Paul Brown Baseball Field; the motion passed unanimously.
