Haddonfield departments report increased calls, leaf collection and ongoing tree work

At the Oct. 7 meeting borough departmental reports described recent public-safety and public-works activity.
The Fire Department reported 53 fire calls (four mutual aid) and 118 EMS calls (23 mutual aid). Officials urged residents to service heaters and chimneys before winter and announced Fire Prevention Night on Thursday from 7–9 p.m. Mayor Bianco Bezich said public-safety PSAs will be issued.
The Police Department reported 1,537 calls for service, 154 motor-vehicle stops (about half resulting in summonses), and 374 summonses issued (17% for moving violations and 83% for parking violations). The mayor said the borough will increase speed-limit signage for safety.
Public Works said the last seasonal chipper pick-up will be the third week of October and that leaf collection begins Oct. 28. Officials reported a multi-year tree program with roughly 800–900 trees removed over 3½ years and 672 Priority 1 and 2 tree trimmings completed; the work is expected to finish by May/June 2025. The borough also noted vegetative waste collection will pause during leaf-collection season.
