Northfield updates police-building progress, fire station occupancy and Smith Park restroom plan

On parks, Collins described a potential Smith Park restroom project: the village is considering a two‑restroom, pre‑made concrete building that can be ordered with a graffiti‑proof coating and has access to water, sewer and electricity; the mayor has not made a final decision but the village hopes the restroom could be in place and functioning by the end of the year if approved.
Collins reported that Phase II of playground equipment is being installed and will be followed by fabric and a rubberized mulch surface. Fire Lt. Bob Davet said the Fire Department is planning an open‑house touch‑a‑truck event that may include a hospital helicopter landing. Mayor Domzalski also noted local business activity—Klutch Cannabis is working on a property with no announced opening date, Taste of Northfield should open in the coming weeks, and a new hair salon is moving into the plaza near the BMV. The Recreation Board supplied event logistics for an Adult Egg Hunt (April 11, check‑in 7:00 a.m., start 8:00 a.m.) and a Children's Egg Hunt (April 12, start 2:00 p.m.).
Finance Director/Clerk Jennifer Potvin will provide a first‑quarter financial report by early May after the 2022–2023 State Audit team resumed work following a pause last September. Councilmember Alan Hipps relayed appreciation from Magistrelli for the Police Department's handling of a recent intruder in a neighborhood. The meeting adjourned at 7:50 p.m.
