After Tropical Storm Debbie, River Ridge CDD reviews stormwater performance and lake maintenance

District engineers and the district’s lake‑management contractor briefed the River Ridge board on stormwater performance, maintenance and follow‑up work after Tropical Storm Debbie.
Charlie Krebs, the district engineer, said parts of the community received nearly 8 inches of rain over two to three days while roads are designed for about 5½ inches in 24 hours; despite that, the stormwater system “flowed unobstructed” though it reached capacity in places. He recommended The Club could add a drainage connection to E1‑A so water bypasses pipes and inlets and goes directly into the lake. He also reported that the MRI project to replace Pinehurst valley gutter inlet grates is about 80% complete and will require asphalt patching; the board asked Mr. Krebs to confirm scheduling for the patch with MRI and Lee County Utilities.
Bill Kurth of Premier Lakes said the lakes and preserves appear to be in very good shape, crews removed fallen trees from an FPL ditch ahead of an impending tropical storm, and a Lake H1‑B nano‑bubbler repair is scheduled for the next day; Premier increased service frequency from quarterly to monthly for the rainy season. Mr. Kurth and Operations Manager Shane Willis will present proposals for the electrical work to relocate a compressor in the Masters Lake.
An unnamed resident reported standing water coming up through a slab and suspected mold problems. Mr. Krebs said he does not believe the standing water is the cause, noting the issue was not reported by other units; he asked Mr. Long to comment and requested the matter be placed on the next meeting agenda for further review. Resident Anita Bachragh requested a downed tree at River 9 Catch Basin #134 be uprighted and asked for additional clearing in a conservation area; Mr. Willis will review past minutes and Ms. Bachragh will provide photographs so staff can inspect the locations and follow up.
Mr. Krebs also noted permitting constraints: fire departments using lake water for drafting would require approval from the South Florida Water Management District. Staff will report back on scheduling, repair status and follow‑up items at future meetings.
