Midland School District Board President Nathan Wood presided over the regular May 18 meeting at Midland High School, where the board approved a slate of administrative and personnel items, including the appointment of Superintendent Toby Crosby to the Northcentral Arkansas Educational Service Cooperative Board of Directors.
The board voted 5-0 to adopt the resolution appointing Toby Crosby, superintendent of the Midland School District, to the cooperative board. The board also approved paying Crosby $418.08 in mileage reimbursement for March through May 2026.
Board members approved both the Midland High School and Midland Elementary School Improvement Plans and the district's legislative audit, each by unanimous 5-0 votes.
In governance and personnel measures, the board voted to remove three names from the signature card at Citizen's Bank. The motion passed 4-0 with Joe Cox recorded as abstaining. The board also approved a retroactive correction to Alicia Carter’s contract by adding two years of experience for the 2026–27 school year; that motion passed 5-0.
Following an executive session, the board accepted multiple resignations and approved recommended hires. The board approved the hiring of Corbitt Conyers as high-school math teacher (placement on the salary schedule at $50,000) and the hiring of Melissa Baker to serve as both senior and junior high volleyball head coach with stipends of $3,000 (senior) and $2,000 (junior); both personnel actions passed 5-0.
The meeting adjourned at 9:22 p.m. The board will meet next on Monday, June 15, 2026 at 7:00 p.m. in the Midland School District board room.
