Savannah council forwards multiple board nominations to regular meeting

The Savannah City Council conducted interviews and agreed to forward several board nominations to its next regular meeting after a Nov. 18, 2019 work session at City Hall.
The Mayor and Aldermen reviewed openings and recommended candidates for multiple city advisory bodies. The council nominated Vernon Jones to the Chatham‑Savannah Authority for the Homeless (one opening on the 19‑member board) to replace Patrick Geoghegan for a four‑year term ending Dec. 31, 2023. Kevin Finley was nominated to replace Charles (Chuck) Feagin on the five‑member Downtown Savannah Authority for a four‑year term ending May 31, 2023. Karen Jarrett was nominated for reappointment to the Metropolitan Planning Commission (12 members) for a three‑year term ending Dec. 31, 2022.
The council also nominated Hunter Hall and Michael Condon to fill two openings on the Savannah Zoning Board of Appeals for three‑year terms ending Dec. 31, 2022, to replace Eli P. Karatassos and Neil Dawson. Greg Parker was nominated for reappointment to the Savannah Economic Development Authority for a five‑year term ending Dec. 31, 2024.
Council members obtained consensus at the workshop to consider these nominations on the regular meeting agenda; no final confirmations were recorded at the work session. The work session minutes note that the Mayor and Aldermen conducted the interviews and that a consensus was reached to move the nominations forward for formal consideration.
The work session began at 10:02 a.m., recessed for lunch, and later adjourned at 1:55 p.m. The nominations and any formal votes are expected to appear on the council's forthcoming regular meeting agenda.
