Decatur Council approves $22,000 for Adams County transit operated by Council on Aging

Lengerich provided a written comparison of Q1 2024 and Q1 2025 trips, fees collected and rider counts.
Following the presentation, Councilor Tyler Fullenkamp moved to allocate $22,000 from the city budget to support the Council on Aging’s transit service; Councilor Matt Dyer seconded and the motion was adopted. The council did not provide a recorded roll-call tally; minutes record the motion as adopted.
The council’s approval comes as local leaders noted Adams County was an early participant in the public transportation project in cooperation with the Indiana Department of Transportation, and that the county constructed a garage on land purchased from the city to house vehicles. Lengerich said staff levels have nearly tripled since the program began.
