Noah Schuman was sworn in as the Village of Homewood’s Director of Economic and Community Development during the June 23 meeting, and trustees approved a multi-item consent agenda that included a three-year collective bargaining agreement, vehicle purchases and a small-business incentive.
Mayor Richard Hofeld introduced Schuman, outlining his performance since joining the village and calling the promotion “well deserved.” Hofeld added, “Noah by far is probably one of the most popular staff members in the Village,” and the board joined in congratulating him before administering the oath.
The consent agenda — approved by roll call without recorded dissent — included the reappointment of Kathleen Seedorf to the Economic Development Committee through June 23, 2028; authorization for the Village President to enter an intergovernmental agreement with Will County for communications system access; and a three-year collective bargaining agreement with Teamsters Local 700 effective retroactively from May 1, 2026, through April 30, 2029.
The board approved a budget amendment of $38,945 to the general fund to meet the village’s obligation to Ford of Homewood under a sales-tax sharing agreement dated Feb. 23, 2022. Trustees also approved purchase of two 2027 Ford F-350 pickup trucks from Curry Motors for a base amount of $105,106 plus up to $34,894 for lighting and equipment, for a total not to exceed $140,000.
Other consent items included ordinance M2435 authorizing sale or disposal of two 2016 Chevy Silverado 350 pickup trucks; ordinance M2436 granting a special-use permit for an indoor commercial place of assembly at 18027 Dixie Highway conditioned on a parking plan before permits are issued; ordinance M2437 directing solicitation of bids for sale of village-owned property at 18157 Dixie Highway; and resolution R3263 authorizing an amendment to an incentive agreement with Larissa Ships for up to $7,711 in non-TIF business incentives for building improvements at 2139 183rd Street.
Trustees also used the meeting to remind residents of upcoming community events including a Martin Avenue Block Party on June 25 and a Backyard Barbecue on July 1. The meeting adjourned by unanimous roll call.
