Dayton council approves dockets, holds one claim and OKs summer gazebo events

The Dayton Town Council approved several routine financial items and a community event request during its May 20 meeting.

The council approved the April allowance docket totaling $33,322.48 and the May claims docket totaling $194,746.52. Councilmember Marc Burhmester asked to hold claim #1671 for C.B. Burke in the amount of $660 pending an itemized statement to determine what portion, if any, should be billed to the school’s parking lot; the council approved that hold. The council also approved April appropriations, the April bank reconciliation and the revenue report, and approved minutes for multiple April meetings.

Brian and Rachael Wenzel requested permission to hold four music events with food trucks at the town gazebo beginning in June and estimated summer costs of $340. The council approved the events and encouraged earlier funding requests if council support or donations would be needed.

Town manager Kurt reported the community center gas meters will be removed the last week of May 2025, asbestos has been removed, demolition permits are being pursued and demolition will follow once permits are obtained. He also reported efforts to add utility infrastructure to GPS (noting counts of pits, valves and hydrants) and that hydrant flushing and testing showed good water pressure and flow.

The council also discussed parking ordinance language and agreed to form a committee to review regulations; Marc said he will contact Leah Copas to chair and named Ashley Stevenson and Marshall Taylor as volunteers, with Steve Schuhle also offering to participate. Councilmembers asked for a status update at the July meeting if possible.
