Matthews awards Riverbanks Greenway Connector contract to ECL SiteWorks for $127,705.33

The Matthews Board of Commissioners authorized the Town Manager to enter into a contract with ECL SiteWorks LLC for construction of the Riverbanks Greenway Connector, using bond funds to build a roughly 5–6 foot connector path, a pedestrian bridge and adjacent sewer protection measures.
Engineer and project manager Krishan Hardy said the project will give Country Place neighborhood residents safer, largely off-street access to downtown, Squirrel Lake Park and, once Greylock Ridge is complete, the Sportsplex. Bids opened in June and the low bidder—ECL SiteWorks—came in under the bond estimate; staff recommended award.
"It'll take about 3 to 4 months to complete, closer to 3, but given some leeway for weather," Hardy said. Staff noted a contingency and performance-bond protections are included; the board authorized the contract in the amount of $127,705.33, which includes a 10% contingency.
Commissioner Urban moved to authorize the contract; Commissioner Hacker seconded. The motion passed unanimously.
Staff will coordinate Charlotte Water requirements for sewer-line protection and perform standard contract oversight and inspection during construction.
