Supervisors approve field-use agreements and lay groundwork for township 250th events

The Longswamp Township Board of Supervisors on March 11 authorized the use of township park fields for local youth sports and discussed community events tied to the township's 250th anniversary.
The board granted Chairman Don Hickman the authority to sign the 2025 Field Utilization Agreement with Topton Soccer Club (motion by Mike Sacks, second Mark Hilbert). Topton Soccer provided required contract, certificate of insurance and schedule information and agreed that it will not use Lions field. The board also authorized Chairman Hickman to sign a contingent amended 2025 Field Utilization Agreement with Brandywine Youth Baseball Association, conditioned on receipt of the amended contract, certificate of insurance and schedule.
Supervisor Mike Sacks reported Park & Recreation plans including an Egg Hunt set for April 12 (pictures with the Easter Bunny 9–11 a.m.; egg hunt noon) and ongoing recruitment of crafters and sponsors for "Swamp Fest," part of the township's 250th-anniversary activities scheduled throughout 2026.
The board noted that driving over the sidewalk at St. Paul's Church by sports groups is grounds for termination of field privileges.
Next steps: park staff to process signed agreements once paperwork is complete and continue outreach to vendors and volunteers for Swamp Fest.
