At its March 11 meeting the Longswamp Township Board of Supervisors granted time extensions for multiple land-development applications under Section 508(3) of the Pennsylvania Municipalities Planning Code.
Motions recorded: the board granted Extra Storage LLC an extension to Sept. 23, 2025 (motion by Mike Sacks, second Mark Hilbert). The board granted PTV 1373, LLC (Dollar General Mertztown LDP) an extension to April 8, 2025 (motion by Mike Sacks, second Mark Hilbert).
The minutes record a third item, described in the agenda as a three-month extension for East Penn Manufacturing Trailer Storage (header lists a three-month extension to July 7, 2025). The motion text as recorded in the meeting minutes repeats the extension motion but states an alternative end date of April 8, 2025. The minutes therefore contain an internal inconsistency about the East Penn extension date; the township did not clarify the final date at the March 11 meeting.
Chairman Don Hickman also announced a pre-construction Zoom meeting scheduled for March 19, 2025 regarding the Valley Road bridge between Mertztown Road and Chestnut Street.
Next steps: the township will file the extension approvals in planning records; the East Penn extension date should be verified with township staff or the municipal planner before any external reliance.
