Mantorville council approves 2026 sheriff contract, Marigold Days permits and routine payments

The sheriff’s contract provides 40 hours of coverage per week at $55.00 per hour, an increase of roughly 3.7% from the previous year. Council approved the contract following a motion and second; the recorded vote was 5–0 in favor.
The council also approved an amended consent agenda that included multiple resolutions and permits, and it separately approved a lawfully permitted gambling premises for the Mantorville Restoration Association’s Saloon Two at 509 Main Street North. That permit passed 3–0, with Councilmembers Lynnette Nash and Lyle Hoaglund recorded as abstaining because of their involvement with the MRA.
Other actions on routine business included: approval of the final payment to DeCook Excavating Inc., authorization of temporary fencing for Mantorville Saloon events during Marigold Days, and the formal approval of Marigold Days street closings (the street-closing motion carried 3–0 with two abstentions). Council also voted to adjourn at 9:30 p.m.
