Crothersville council approves 51.7% water and 13.66% sewer rate increases

Council member Jamy Greathouse moved to approve the rate changes; the motion was seconded by Mark Wilkerson and carried unanimously. Clerk Treasurer Danieta Foster recorded the action during the meeting.
Council members said the increases are intended to support the town’s ongoing water-project work and to meet requirements of state revolving fund (SRF) planning. The council directed staff to "move forward with procedures to implement rate increases with the help of Baker Tilley," noting that phase 2 of the water project could require additional increases depending on the SRF Asset Management Plan and whether the town qualifies for a rate buy-down.
The council did not set a phase‑2 rate amount at the meeting; councilors said the need for future increases will be determined by SRF requirements and asset‑management outcomes. The vote was recorded as 5‑0 in favor; no members abstained or voted no.
The council’s action means the utilities will begin the formal steps required to adjust customer bills; Clerk Treasurer Danieta Foster and the firm Baker Tilley were identified as responsible for implementing the procedural and accounting changes necessary to reflect the new rates.
