Council records pool manager resignation, agrees to park use and discusses policy updates

Amanda Strawser asked for use of the city park on Sunday, April 13, at 2:00 p.m. for an Easter egg hunt for the 4th of July royalty; the council agreed to allow the park use. Wanda Miller raised a question about an issue involving Jeff Clark and a convenience location in the new subdivision on River Road; Attorney Powell said he is still working on the matter and will contact Jeff Clark.
The council noted the city pool manager has resigned and that applications for the position are available at the city building. Councilmember Randles requested the city update its policies (last revised in 2008); Clerk-Treasurer Linda Knecht will distribute the current policies to all council members to collect updates. Councilmember Smith mentioned Senate Bill 135 regarding local government redistricting and said Councilmember Copenhaver is meeting with a contact on that topic; Smith also suggested the city pursue grants and consider hiring a grant writer to pursue funding for water improvements across the river.
Councilmember Easter asked about repainting the basketball courts and whether the city would provide a design; Mayor Crain said the city is looking into it. Councilmember Copenhaver asked about sweeper and vacuum quotes; Mayor Crain and Supt. KC Smith will demo a lower-cost machine next week.
Ending: Attorney Powell will follow up on the Jeff Clark inquiry; Clerk-Treasurer Knecht will circulate policy documents for updates; staffing and procurement follow-ups were noted with no vote recorded.
