Haverhill Council approves payment of bills and Alliant Energy fiber-lease resolution

The Haverhill City Council on Dec. 16 approved payment of the city’s November bills and carried a resolution allowing Alliant Energy to lease its fiber-optic lines to a third party. Mayor Madaleine Welton moved to approve warrants for payment of the listed bills and the clerk was authorized to issue warrants; Council member Maggie Stalzer seconded the motion, and the vote was recorded as ayes — Morgan Daters, Shirley Faircloth, Maggie Stalzer, Gary Vanderah and Madaleine Welton. The motion carried.
Council then considered a resolution regarding Alliant Energy’s fiber-optic lines. Council member Maggie Stalzer moved to approve the resolution to lease Alliant Energy’s fiber optic lines to a third party; Gary Vanderah seconded. The ayes — Daters, Faircloth, Stalzer, Vanderah and Welton — carried the motion.
The council’s finance review for the meeting stated an ending treasurer’s balance of $200,576.60 and listed receipts totaling $10,530.09 for November, including state distributions and small local receipts.
