Resident Tom Ericson urges council to back Mother's Market; public commentator questions address rule

During the public-comment period at the Sept. 9 Hoyt Lakes council meeting, resident Tom Ericson identified himself and urged the council and community to support Mother's Market, a local grocery he described as having made improvements and lowered prices.
Ericson said the store had reduced prices by about 20% after switching suppliers, praised manager Austin and asked the council to reach out to and encourage the community to patronize the business. "Do you want and support Mother's Market?" he asked the council.
Earlier in the public forum a different resident questioned whether remote commenters must give a full street address when speaking online, saying other cities often require only the city of residence. The resident suggested Hoyt Lakes could change its protocol to accept a city-level identification rather than a full address; the council agreed to look into the issue and discuss it at the next meeting.
Council members did not take formal action to provide financial or promotional support to Mother's Market during the meeting. The clerk was asked to research the address-protocol question and return with guidance at a future meeting.
