Hoyt Lakes council removes one set of minutes, approves routine agreements and proclamations

The Hoyt Lakes City Council met Sept. 9, 2024, and moved to pull one set of Aug. 12 minutes from the consent agenda for revision after members raised concerns about wording describing supervisory relationships among employees. The remainder of the consent agenda was approved.

The council approved a proclamation recognizing the first families who moved into the Lakes in September 1954. Council members also voted to sign a concession-stand agreement that removes an "early ice" clause for this year and leaves Department of Health licensing responsibility with the vendor.

Councilors authorized a write-off for an uncollectible utility account (account 32301) after staff said the previous occupant moved and could not be located; staff said typical annual utility write-offs are usually under $1,000. The council approved a routine liquor-license transfer for J LLC to use at the arena for a Sept. 28 wedding and accepted the required fee.

City administrator Landing reminded council members of upcoming deadlines, including submission of questions for the Easter Water Board and seasonal-application deadlines for Fisherman's Point. Public Utilities director B told the council that fall sludge hauling has begun and that the goal is to finish by the end of October before winter weather. "Our goal is to try and get all of our fall sludge hauling done by the end of October and before the snow flies," the director said, and added that residents should notice improved water quality following recent changes at the water plant.

With no further business, the council moved, seconded and carried a motion to adjourn.
