Option A emphasizes a single, visible composition designed to be readable at a distance and to include an interactive element for photos. The advisory board said the collage approach would be more visible to passing drivers and more attractive for pedestrian photo opportunities.
Councilors approved Option A with a friendly amendment to include an interactive selfie element. Several members also raised concerns that the mural’s placement on the liquor‑store wall could obscure or compete with the store’s signage. Staff confirmed the liquor store’s windows would be covered as part of the mural plan and agreed to work with the business on a signage solution—suggesting a projecting sign or other placement that does not interfere with the mural.
The mural is scheduled to be painted beginning in early June; staff and the artist will finalize dimensions, exact placement and any small design tweaks (including adding goats or locally significant images) before on‑wall painting begins. Councilors said the mural is part of a broader downtown placemaking strategy tied to the June events and Park Street improvements.
