The council member said the town should put lights along the path to Town Hall and “lights on a Christmas ... one of the big trees that we have outside of the building,” and suggested a public lighting with hot chocolate and a small ceremony. Board members discussed scheduling conflicts and agreed to hold the lighting in the same week as the Dec. 9–11 work session window so residents could attend. One member suggested starting the work session at 5:30 p.m. and stepping outside to flip the lights at about 6 p.m.
The proposal does not change any formal town policy; staff were assigned to prepare a flyer and to coordinate decorations and donated refreshments. The board discussed using neutral white lights and called the event a festive, non‑denominational celebration. No formal vote was required; scheduling and publicity steps were agreed by consensus.
