Doraville begins public process for 2026 comprehensive plan update; survey and workshops planned

TSW planning consultant Anna Bagot told the Doraville City Council on Nov. 12 that the city’s comprehensive plan update — branded “DORA Vision” — will be a coordinated, multi‑element process. The four phases are: foundations and assessment; vision and land use; implementation (including integration with recreation and stormwater planning); and finalization and adoption.
Bagot said community engagement will include stakeholder interviews, steering‑committee workshops, a bilingual online survey (already live), pop‑ups and at least one public workshop in January. TSW will also produce a city snapshot of existing conditions and coordinate closely with the recreation and parks master plan and a stormwater assessment for newly annexed areas.
A public hearing portion of the meeting allowed supporters to speak; resident Tom Hart praised the consultant choice and urged a comprehensive approach. Council members asked about steering‑committee membership, outreach to newly annexed areas and funding considerations in the plan’s community work program. Staff indicated resident seats are filled for the steering committee and that additional stakeholder interviews and workshops will be announced.
Why it matters: The comprehensive plan guides long‑range land use, transportation and capital priorities, and the update will shape zoning and implementation priorities for the next 10–20 years.
Next steps: TSW will convene a steering committee in December, refine the existing‑conditions snapshot and hold the first public workshop (tentatively Jan. 20); council asked staff to ensure extra outreach to newly annexed neighborhoods.
