The Osceola County Board voted to extend a human-resources service agreement for a three-year term, approving continued engagement of the consultant who said the company's services include active risk management and free legal counsel for county clients.
Consultant (Speaker 1) described the agreement as a three-year contract with an opt-out after the first year and said the provider focuses on preventing claims and litigation rather than responding after the fact. "We have the most comprehensive list of services of anybody that does this work," the consultant said, adding that the firm provides legal advice at no extra cost to counties.
Board members discussed the monthly fee and negotiating room. One member proposed a rate change during discussion; after a motion to retain the provider for three years and a second, the board approved the contract. "Motion carried," the chair announced.
The vote followed a short question-and-answer exchange about annual adjustments and the contract's opt-out provision. The consultant said other vendors do not provide active risk-management services or free legal review, which she argued is a cost-saving feature for the county.
The board directed staff to finalize paperwork and to circulate signed copies and any requested permits or supporting documents to board members before the next meeting. The county will receive the consultant's updated handbook and supporting materials for further review.
