Peggy told the board she worries federal funding limits local control and said taxpayers should have “a voice” in school decisions. “I think the Bible should come back,” Peggy said, adding that she is “hoping to God that they don't make us put tampon things in the boy's bathroom.” The board did not respond during open forum; the chair had earlier reminded speakers that the period is for the board to listen, not to answer questions.
Another resident, Annette, spoke about student identity and classroom practice. “Teachers call them by pronouns and things like that — it's just confusing our students,” she said, arguing the curriculum she has seen “feels like indoctrination” rather than instruction. Annette asked the board to work with concerned families to address those issues.
The comments came before the board moved on to routine business, including several resolutions and reports. No formal policy changes were proposed or adopted during the meeting in response to the public remarks; open‑forum rules were reiterated by the board chair.
