The Clayton County Board of Education voted to approve several personnel recommendations and to uphold a recent employee tribunal on the evening the board met in a combined work session and regular meeting.
Interim superintendent Dr. Douglas Hendricks presented the slate of appointments, which included Dr. Natasha Ball as principal at BC Haney Elementary, Brook Sers as assistant principal at Marorrow High School, Tanisha Barlo McDonald as assistant principal at North Clayton High School, Landry Merkinson as chief operations officer, Erica Johnson as assistant superintendent for elementary schools and Mercedes Miller as executive director of arena operations. Each recommendation was moved, seconded and approved by the board during the executive‑session recommendations segment. For several of the hires the clerk recorded the vote as “unanimous” among those present, with District One board member Jasmine Bose absent from the vote. The appointment of Erica Johnson was approved with one abstention recorded.
The board also considered an employee tribunal matter (hearing number 2025‑2026‑09). A motion “to uphold the tribunal’s recommendation” was moved and seconded and the board voted to uphold the tribunal decision.
Board members praised the candidates as they were announced and invited newly appointed administrators to stand for recognition at the dais. “The motion has been made and properly seconded,” the chair said before each vote. Several members asked that the newly appointed leaders remain in the room for a group photo and to meet briefly with the board.
The approvals conclude the personnel actions the superintendent presented that evening. The board did not vote on any salary details in public session; salary and contract specifics were not specified in the presentation.
What’s next: Newly appointed administrators were asked to remain for photographs and onboarding processes; the board directed the superintendent’s office to proceed with administrative follow‑up. The tribunal outcome will be reflected in personnel records as applicable.
