Student Council members Abbie Schuhmacher and Suzy Hamlett told the board March 10 that the council raised $3,800 this year to fund PBIS rewards such as trips to Gilbertson Nature Center, Upper Iowa Rec Center, Camp Klaus, Fontana or EWALU.
Elementary Principal Heath Hesse said 'Muffins with Moms' is scheduled for Friday, noted an elementary PBIS celebration next Friday and said teachers and students are preparing for upcoming ISASP testing. Secondary Principal Kris Martin said she is developing a work-based learning program for next school year, cited attendance impacts from sickness and state wrestling, and described meetings with students to keep them on track for graduation.
Superintendent Robert Busch declined to move into a closed session for his annual evaluation under Iowa Code 21.5(1)(i). He said his goals for the coming year will focus on facility improvements and student achievement and announced a Facilities Task Force meeting on March 12 to discuss building needs, including HVAC improvements and cafeteria furnishings. Board members offered praise and requested greater transparency and regular updates from the superintendent.
Athletic Director Tracy Curtis told the board winter sports are wrapping up and end-of-season meetings with players and coaches are underway.
