Starmont OKs sharing agreements with West Central CSD, including superintendent and transportation

The Starmont Community School District board voted unanimously March 10 to enter several sharing agreements with West Central Community School District covering administrative positions and extracurriculars for the 2025–26 school year.
On motions carried 4-0, the board approved sharing a Human Resource Director at a 60/40 split, sharing a Business Manager at a 60/40 split and sharing the superintendent at a 60/40 split. The board initially received a 70/30 transportation sharing proposal but approved an amendment by Doug Puffett to set the Transportation Director split at 60/40; both the amendment and the amended motion carried 4-0.
The board also approved sharing agreements for cross country, wrestling and baseball with West Central for 2025–26. Those extracurricular-sharing approvals were recorded as unanimous votes.
Board members said the agreements aim to bridge academic and administrative gaps between districts while recognizing the need for accountability and communication. President Julie Uhlenkamp said she appreciates the superintendent’s advocacy for public schools; board members requested clearer transparency at the teacher level and regular superintendent updates.
The approvals take effect as part of planning for 2025–26; the meeting minutes do not list contract dollar amounts or detailed schedules for shared duties.
