Perry police to seek auction of donated RV, fund purchase of smaller command trailer

Chief Everage told the council the police department received a donated RV that was modified into a command post but has mechanical, electronic and roof issues that make it infeasible for regular use.
"It is still an RV... it's just not very feasible for what we were trying to do with it," Chief Everage said, asking the council to authorize surplusing the vehicle at auction and earmarking proceeds to purchase a smaller, easier-to-store trailer designed for crime scenes, downtown events and major incidents.
He said the department would offset the remainder of the purchase from seed funds. A resolution regarding surplus property is attached to the agenda packet, staff noted, and the council was asked to consider the surplus and funding approach. No formal vote was recorded in the pre-council discussion.
