The Loganville City Council voted to extend a moratorium on rezoning and annexation applications for properties within the city and for properties seeking incorporation into the city limits, moving the expiration to Sept. 30, 2026.
Councilmember Lisa made the motion to extend the existing moratorium "for an additional six-month period through September 30th, 2026 on all reszone applications and annexation applications for properties located within the city limits of Loganville as well as properties seeking to be incorporated into the city limits," and the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote.
City officials said the extension is intended to allow staff to continue a zoning ordinance rewrite and to provide time for consistent rules to be drafted and implemented. The mayor and council did not provide a roll-call tally in the meeting record; the motion was adopted by the customary voice vote procedure.
Paul, the city attorney, reiterated that staff will continue to work on the zoning and that the moratorium provides breathing room to align administrative permitting and zoning rules. Planning commission appointments and other planning matters remain on the council's calendar as staff completes the ordinance revisions.
The council agreed to bring related planning items back to the work session in April for interviews and further consideration.
