At the April 7 Park Board meeting, an Essentia Health Community Health Program Manager presented a proposal to support Roy Peterson Memorial Park with programming and small improvements.
The presenter described a focus on nutrition and physical activity, year-round cleanups and a few smaller capital or site improvements. The proposal as recorded in the minutes offered $10,000 per year for three years. The presenter recommended moving the basketball hoop to the opposite end of the court or installing a backstop and requested that the state place a “Children at Play” sign at the site.
Board members acknowledged the proposal and the minutes indicate staff follow-up is expected to clarify implementation and any necessary approvals. No formal vote or funding commitment by the city is recorded in the minutes for this proposal.
The board will consider staff recommendations and any required agreements at a future meeting; the minutes do not set a specific date for that follow-up.
