At the June 8 meeting Supervisor Adam Elenbaas introduced Ordinance 2026-08, an amendment to chapter 440 of the Code of Ordinances concerning vehicles and traffic, and presented it for its first reading.
Elenbaas also presented a proposed fee resolution, Resolution 2026-10, described at the meeting as a tie-bar to Ordinance 2026-08; the resolution would establish a $95 civil fine for violations of Section 440, Article IV of the township code. Several trustees asked questions and commented on the proposal during the discussion period; the minutes record that the resolution was removed from Action Items and moved to Discussion Items prior to the meeting and was subsequently discussed rather than voted on.
Public comment was recorded from Marcia Hoekstra and Gail Roelofs; the minutes list their attendance and comment but do not summarize the substance of their remarks. Trustee Hansen publicly thanked Gail and Joel Roelofs for volunteering as election inspectors earlier in the meeting.
Because Ordinance 2026-08 was presented only for first reading and the fee resolution was discussed but not adopted, no enforcement changes or civil fine collection followed from the June 8 meeting. The board will consider ordinance next steps and any associated adoption vote at a future meeting.
