District 3: After debate about the value of having active parents on the school board and substitute motions, the council approved the substitute motion and then the main motion to appoint Tisha Royal; the final vote for District 3 was 7-0.
Council members repeatedly encouraged unsuccessful candidates to reapply at future openings and noted that appointment decisions will be revisited in future cycles. The appointments were taken by roll-call votes as part of the meeting’s general business.
